Our land is on slopes, and every year rain washes soil away. Dry stone walls are one of the oldest ways to stop this, and they’re part of the landscape all over central Portugal. Next season we want to repair old walls and build new ones to hold soil, slow water and create terraces for planting. We’re looking for someone with real dry stone experience who can lead this work and teach our landscape team as we go. It’s slow, physical work outdoors, and the results last for generations.
Requirements:
Experience building dry stone walls. Able to plan a wall, choose stone and lead a small team. Happy to teach beginners. Fit for heavy lifting on slopes.
Bonus: Experience with terracing or erosion control.
Time Commitment:
Period 1: End of March to end of June 2027
Period 2: Start of July to end of October 2027
Minimum stay: One full period.
