Every year, we clear more land of invasive mimosa (acacia) and brambles. The more we clear, the more we have to maintain. A big part of this role therefore involves keeping the cleared areas open, mostly using a brush cutter. Next season, you will also clear more areas, maintain the already cleared areas, help to build erosion control measures, drystone walls, and a sewage system. It’s hard, physical outdoor work in a small team. We’re looking for people who care about restoring damaged land and who want to learn how this is done in practice.
Requirements:
A real interest in regenerating land. You must be fit for long days of physical work in the heat and on slopes. Willingness to learn and follow safety rules. Advantageous skills: Experience with a brush cutter, chainsaw, digger, dry stone walling or simply carrying logs.
Time Commitment:
Period 1: End of March to end of June 2027
Period 2: Start of August to end of October 2027
Minimum stay: One full period. There is no tool work in July and August due to the fire risk.
