2025

1. We rebuild a burnt-down shed only with natural materials

A wild fire destroyed all the spaces that used to be on this land. All that was left when we started building was a pile of rocks. We built up the walls again, added new wooden structures, extended the roof and built a custom outdoor kitchen.

2. We experimented with granite stone, clay and natural lime

Granite is beautiful, local material here, and ideal for the weather conditions, so we tested the best way for us to work with it. For the mortar, we used local clay, sand and water and finished the walls with a natural lime plaster.

3. We made our own natural insulation material

For the floor insulation of the granite ruin we pressed insulation blocks using straw and clay. The walls we plastered with clay and straw. We tried to push this ecological way of building to the limit: From re-using an basketball floor as boards for the floor to building in sockets from recycled plastic.

3. We scaled up our off-grid water system

To filter and distribute more water from our well, we extended our existing water system. We now have a big water hub that connects basekamp with middle land and the sketchy ruin. So two more water points that make the land more fire safe.

4. We set up a material bank for second-hand items

To be able to safely store natural materials and second-hand items for future projects, we set up the biggest dry space so far.

More things we achieved:

We have worked on much more this year. Watch our yearly recap video and check our annual report here below!

One year
in one video!

Cleared area around the granite ruin to improve fire resilience
Set up a specific team for our digital infrastructure
Made a painting only with clay pigments
Increased the biodiversity around the lake
Worked on a 10 year plan
Cleared around community center ready for construction
Built an outdoor kitchen
Opened up more overgrown areas of the land
